DEPARTMENT OF THEORY AND PRACTICE OF TRANSLATION
The Department of Translation Theory and Practice of the foreign languages was opened in 1998 and is aimed at developing techniques required for translation and interpreting in an increasingly competitive professional environment. The department modules combine translation research skills, specialized translation with input into linguistic theory. The department curriculum fosters development of professional competence and dissemination of information technology in the field of translation theory and practice.
There is 1 full professor, 1 PhD, 1 Associate Professor, 1 Candidate of Philological Sciences, 4 senior teachers and 14 Masters of Arts.
Almash S. Yermagambetova – Ass. Prof., Head of the department
In 1978 Almash Yermagambetova took part in the International Exchange program organized by “IREX”, Almaty held in the New-York State University, Buffalo, USA
In 1994/95 she participated in the International exchange program organized by the Kazakh-American Center of the Kentucky State University, USA where she lectured History of Kazakhstan and Kazakh.

ProfessorSabitova M.T (PhD) is the Honorable Teacher of the RK and is one of the founders of the Translation faculty. She is specialized in contrastive linguistics. Under her supervision more than 20 post-graduate students have defended their candidate and master’s dissertations.
