Pedagogical faculty of foreign languages
The Teacher Training Faculty of Foreign Languages of Kazakh Abylai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages was founded in 1941. Today it trains students of specialty 050119: Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages and is one of the leading teacher training faculties in the Republic.

The Teacher Training Faculty of Foreign Languages of Kazakh Abylay Khan University of International Relations and World Language was founded in 1941.
Nowadays, the Dean of Pedagogical Faculty of Foreign Languages is Aybarsha Islam, the Doctor of Philological Sciences, professor of Kazakh Abylai khan University of International Relations and World Languages.
The author of two handouts, monographs on the speciality “International Relations” and more than 50 scientific articles. She is also the compiler of English-Kazakh Linguacultural Dictionary.

The department of english phonetics

Was established in 1967. The first Head of the Department was Galaidina H.A., c.ph..s. The right to head the Department was vested on the following experienced teachers and honored scholars: Galaidina N.A., Isaev M.K., Meyerbekova C.K., Zhantlesova L.P. In 80-s the textbook of English for 1st year students of the Kazakh Departments was compiled by the Department teachers such as Kurmanbayev N.K., Isaev M.K., Kazbekova D.N., Iskakova T.K., Iskakova Zh. I.

The department of english lexicology

Functions since 1967. The first Head of the Department was Professor Kurmanbayev H.M. who defined the academic and methodological direction of the Department. Highly experienced specialists such as Novak T.P., Ignatyeva N.P., Filina K.V., Kovler T.D. and many others, who generously shared their experience and knowledge with younger generations, worked at the Department under Kurmanbayev’s leadership.

The department of english grammar

Was found in 1969 in the English Faculty. The first Head of the Department was Prof. Akhmetova S.A. At present, the Department is headed by Professor Rysaldy Kusain Tynysbayevich, Doctor of Philological Sciences.

The department of methodology of foreign languages teaching

Was established in 1968. In 2004 the Department was given the name of Professor Petr Guryanovich Kozlov, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, who was an outstanding scholar and one of the first Heads of the Department. At present the Department is headed by Professor Kuznetsova Tamara Danilovna, Candidate of Psychological Sciences.

The department of theory and practice of foreign languages speech

Was established in 2007-2008 academic year. Since then it is headed by Prof. T.T.Ayapova, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Academic of the International Academy of Sciences and Pedagogical Education.

The academic and methodological work of the Faculty on the specialty 050119 is carried out on the basis of the curriculums for the taught subjects.
According to the concept, oriented to the formation of a student’s personality, development of his/her mental and creative activity, the staff of the Faculty works at improvement of subjects teaching in the Departments through involvement of novelty and variety of work forms that enable to develop cognition, students’ mental and communicative abilities. The realization of the settled goals is fulfilled through renovation of the academic material according to the principle of authenticity and level adequacy.
In the view of transference of the national system of professional education to the new level, our University specialists headed by Academic S.S.Kunanbayeva have worked out the New Concept of Foreign Language Education that theoretically rationalizes all its methodology and theory. 11 Doctors of Sciences, 23 Candidates of Sciences work and 1218 students study at the Faculty.
The teachers of the Faculty participate in internship programs of many prestigious world universities including University of Arizona (USA), University of Penn, Pierre Mendes, Sorbonne (France), Gete Institute, Karl Marks University, University of Gettingen (Germany), Luisein University (Switzerland), University of Grats (Austria), University of Genoa (Italy), Technical University of Bratislava (Slovakia).
The teachers of the Faculty carry out active research and creative activity. In 2007 Professor Ayapova T.T., Doctor of Philological Sciences, Academic was granted the award “Best Teacher of the Year”. In 2009 the winners of the competition “Best Teacher of the Year” were Professor Rysaldy K.T. and Almetova A.C., Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences.
The students of the Faculty demonstrate high level of knowledge and get the President Scholarship, participate in different state programs and continue their education in Great Britain, Germany, France, the USA, Italy, Japan, Spain, Korea and other countries.
