The chair of phonetics was established in 1967. The first head of the chair was Galaidina N.A., candidate of philological science. The honoured teachers like: Issaev M.K., Meerbekova S.K., Zhantlessova L.P. worked in the chair of phonetics

The staff of the chair works in scientific, educatory spheres and in social bringing up the 1st year students. There are 2 candidates: Moldassanova A.A. and Shpikbayeva B.Zh., 1 senior lecturer -Alibayeva G.K., 2 senior teachers- Tastankulova K.T., Kamzina Zh. Z., and 4 holders of masters degree- Kaskinbayeva K.S., Tulepbergenova A.M. Dzhanabayeva A.M., Seidullayeva A.Kh. the teachers of the chair are also tutors for the 1st year students.

By the teachers of the chair there were done a lot of works like Tests using multimedia programmes, a syllabus and there are a lot of resource materials in the Resource center. Senior teachers Alibayeva G.K. and Kozhayeva A.K. worked out e-books.

The staff of the chair attended a lot of seminars under the management of Scientific Research Center (SRC) in Teaching Contemporary Methods of Foreign Language.
