Department history

Department of  political  economy  in capacity of  independent guidance unit had formed in 1967. Docents Ponomarev V.I., Farizov A.M., Artemov N.V., who was leading the department in different periods of time, had made a big contribution in department’s organization and formation.
The labor of a top school, the doctor of economy science, professor Iskaliev Mendesh Dosmuhanuly have been leading the department since 31 January 1979.
In 1994 for the purpose of  preparing highly qualified specialists in the range of international relations in the KNU of IRWL was opened the faculty of the international relations (FIR). On the basis of  economic theory department in the same year was opened the department of international economical relations (IER).  This department became base on the faculty and provide fundamental and specialized economical lectureship.
The purpose of creation IER is to combine science-economists’ struggles in preparing highly qualified specialists in the range of international relations, international economy in conditions  of formation and development of Republic of Kazakhstan as an independent state.
Since 1999\2000 to 2005\2006 academic year department had been preparing economists on specialty 091140- «World economics» with specialization «IEA» and «ICFR» and with knowledge of foreign languages. Since 2004 to now on the base GGES 2004, 2006 the department have been preparing specialists on specialty 050506 – «Economics» with qualification of  bachelor of economy, 050510 – «Governmental and local administration» with qualification of bachelor of governmental and local administration.
The department is the methodic centre for all economical subjects of university.  Perfection of lecture’s quality and realization of seminar and practice lessons, creation of guidance literature are in teachers’ focus of attention. Special attention is given to teaching and development of guidance on Kazakh and foreign languages.
Development’s staff is keeping in touch with related developments of KNU named after Al-Farabi, KEU named after T.Ryskulov, KNAU, KNPU named after Abai and with other universities of Kazakhstan. Special attention is given to increasing of teacher’s qualification. In such a way some lecturers got through traineeship in Belgian free university (Brussels) by the program «Tempus-Tasis», KIMEP, KEU named after T.Ryskulov, IWEP, KISS by President of Republic of Kazakhstan.
By the program of exchanging of lecturers since 20 October to 6 December 2008 were read lectures and made conversations about problems of international economy and consequences of world financial crisis with students of 3rd and 4th courses (specialty «Economy») by native-speaker from USA James Tipins.
By the program of social partnership and job placement, on 6th and 7th November were read two lections by workers of AO «AMROBANK».The topics of lections were: «Management of quality of business processing in banks» - speaker Sajlaubekkyzy Aliya, the head of quality management department, and «Organization of retail business inside banks of 2nd level» - speaker Ismagambetov Altaj, the CEO of subsidiary of AO «AMROBANK».
On 21st of April 2009 The Association of young financiers jointly with Almaty regional financial centre made a training among students. Students of 3rd course of «Economics», «Marketing» specialties took part in the training.   
On 25th April 2009 by the program of social partnership was rendered the lection with the director of the centre of economical investigation Institute of World Economy and Politics, Chulanova Z.K. The topic was «Human factor and development concept» with students of «Economics» specialty.
